Little Rock, Ark. -- Help is on the way for local and county governments in 37 Arkansas counties to address flood damages and losses that began on April 27 and continuing. A Presidential declaration for public assistance was issued today to provide funding for damaged public facilities. There is no declaration for losses to homeowners or renters.

TEXAS CITY, Texas -- Every year, hundreds of thousands of residents throughout the state gamble that they won't need to purchase flood insurance. Many of them are going to lose the bet, according to state and federal recovery officials overseeing recovery operations that follow federally declared disasters.

ATLANTA, Ga. -- More than $5.49 million in disaster assistance has been approved for south Georgia residents who suffered damage from the March 26-April 13 severe storms and flooding, announced officials with the Georgia Emergency Management Agency (GEMA) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Less than three weeks after Kentuckians affected by the severe storms and flooding in May were deemed eligible for federal disaster assistance, more than $10 million in aid has been disbursed and is in their hands to help them recover.
